To Tattoo or Not Tattoo

Well I have to say yes as it's about 12yrs too late to say no! My Dad warned me once you start you can't stop and I've been looking at designs for my third one for about a year.

New Zealanders are the most tattooed nation per capita in the world. So why are some of my girlfriends so paranoid about getting them? They aren't scared of pain: refer childbirth and botox!

Good reasons to get one 35+ include: our babies have already stretched our skin, our eyesight will only get worse leaving us less time to admire them, we are old enough and wise enough never to get some guys name and no one judges you across the boardroom table they want you to climb on the table so everyone can see!

Glamour Pusses & Pooch

If only everday could be this glamorous. Note to self: eat more cake, skip more, travel by zebra while playing cards and adopt a deer.

Our Fondest Farewell

Dear Big Day Out,

Thanks for 15 fabulous years (I did stand you up a couple of times). We shall miss you ... and a special thanks to Nero for taking us out on such a high note.

Pouting in the kitchen

I have been avoiding the kitchen for 2 weeks (at least) since B has been away but I know I will have to drag my butt back in there tomorrow so to spur me on I just watched Nigella. I usually watch Nigella to try and pick up tips on how to look and act like a smitten kitten but I actually paid attention to the cooking and now I'm raring to go.

This weeks dinners will include the following:

Chicken, Bacon & Mushroom Pie - pies are my safety net in the kitchen

Curry in a Hurry

Roastini ! Fried Gnocchi which apparently come out like Pixie sized roast potatoes

I am dying to try the Roastini. Sometimes we all need a kick up the buttella to get us going. So go to Nigella.com where all the recipes are available and you can even sign up for a cook along. I might do a bit of a Julie and Julia and try to cook at least 2 of Nigella's recipes each week.

First up best dressed

We live Greek styles at my place with 3 generations under 1 very large roof. Built in babysitters and shared housework are the  benefits but there is one downfall I never saw coming.

It took me a while to realise that the mother and B were not lurking outside my bedroom door to greet me with a cheery good morning, but waiting till I was in the shower so they could raid my wardrobe. The mother has even gone so far as to suggest that we turn one of the spare rooms into a giant communal walkin wardrobe.

As annoying as this can be it goes to prove that no matter what age 13, 37 or 58 you can wear anything if it's styled up right. I'll probably live to regret it but below are 3 different ideas on how to style up a dress I bought this week.

Woo hoo

Much to the shame of my friends and family I have been a devotee of Crocs since they came out. Yes I am not afraid to admit it I am the proud owner of hot pink ones. I find many varied excuses for wearing them like rock walking at the beach or in hot weather on the farm instead of gumboots. I am thrilled that I will now be able to legitimately wear them in winter too. And I don't care what you say they are like wrapping your feet in marshmallows.

Colour me happy

Is it any wonder I am gravitating towards aqua blue when I keep getting photos like these from friends on holiday in New Caledonia.

I had to rush out and buy this .... cheered me up even more when I got in on sale for $15!

Trash vs pash

I am going to start 2012 as I mean to continue surrounding myself with only things I am passionate about and counting my blessings. First step clear out that wardrobe. Second step acknowledge how blessed I am to have such a large wardrobe and also a storage space where I can keep out of season items I can't bear to part with.

After cruising the net looking for ideas on how to organise my wardrobe I ended up going to my fav fash bloggers to see how they handle things.

My third step will be to organise a clothes swap party so I can trade my unwanted items and encourage my girlfriends to do the same. Selling your clothes on Trade Me and such like is cool but a clothes swap party is a great excuse for the girls to get together and an opportunity to get input from others on what suits you.

Rain rain you're ok

Got to love holiday tv especially on those rainy days so far I've watched: Bridget Jones Diary, Steel Magnolias, Rumour Has It, Sunshine Cleaning, Little Fockers and Morning Glory

I have always admired Dolly Parton and Shirley McLaine and have a growing admiration for Amy Adams and Emily Blunt. And oddly I think I have developed a crush on Kevin Costner how peculiar, maybe its just cabin fever?

Just had to check ... Nope he's hot alright

Swish like a lady

I am loving wearing long flowing skirts this summer. I know, I know the rules brigade will be spinning at the thought of someone of my tiny frame 5'2" being overwhelmed in all that fabric, but frock it I'm going to anyway. When I swish down a hallway I feel 10' tall, when I daintily hold my skirt up as I descend a staircase I feel like a princess and when I stand in a howling gale I feel smug knowing my hemline won't rise above my VPL!

Wearing something that makes you smile is as good as it gets.

I want to know

What's the secret all these animals know, the one that gives them the confidence to stare defiantly into the lens. This is fierce posing.
